When you work from home, your home and your office are in the same structure so those things that are driving you crazy, drive you crazy 24 hours a day! You can tell where your family has been by the trail of stuff they’ve left behind. Things pile up and get left where they were last used with the thought that it can be dealt with later. It is easy to feel overwhelmed. Everything can look and feel like it would take a day or several days to get back in order. Does this sound familiar? Here’s an idea from http://www.flylady.net/
Trash Bag Boogie
Go and grab a trash bag, set your timer for 15 minutes and go to every room in your house and grab anything that needs to be tossed.
We all have things that need to be tossed that ends up just taking root and we no longer see it. Now is the time to grab that trash bag and go on a trash hunt. You do not have to put anything away, you do not have to gather up things to donate. Just focus on anything that is trash and needs to be tossed out. Empty the wastebasket in each room you go to, check the floor for the overflow and things that spilled. If you have a great deal of paper clutter that you know needs to be tossed, take a brown paper bag with you so you can have a recycle bag and a trash bag. Don’t think too hard on this, just grab and toss in each room until the timer goes off. When the timer goes off you are done for the day!
There are many variations on this; find 27 things, spend 15 minutes, etc. There is no right way. Just pick one and get started.
If you are looking for more ways to get it together so you can get back to work, check out FlyLady.
